What is loadglove?

A force measurement glove for applied hand loads.

loadglove is designed for applications where the hand is both the actuator and the measurement site. Textile force sensors can be positioned at relevant contact areas to record how forces are applied during gripping, pressing, handling or tool interaction.

The system is useful when the scientific question is not only whether a task was completed, but how much force the hand contributed, how consistently it was applied and how the force changed during the movement.

Measurement workflow

Hand-force data during real object interaction.

For a loadglove study, the sensor positions should follow the expected contact pattern: fingertips for precision pressing, palm regions for support loads, or combined locations when grip strategy is the scientific question. The goal is to measure hand force without forcing the person into an artificial fixture.

The data can be interpreted as force-time curves for each contact region, allowing comparison of grip intensity, task phases, fatigue effects, training progress or ergonomic risk. When synchronized with video, motion capture or robot telemetry, loadglove data can explain not just what happened, but how the hand produced the action.

loadglove can be synchronized with external measurement systems such as Xsens by Movella and comparable motion-capture platforms. This makes it possible to align hand-force signals with body kinematics, posture and task events in one time-consistent dataset.

When force curves from the glove are recorded in sync with motion data, researchers and engineers can evaluate how hand loading changes during reaching, gripping, assembly, tool use or humanoid training tasks. The combined view is especially useful for ergonomics, robotics, physical AI datasets and real-time movement analysis.
